1st - 18th July 2019 / 3ed International Kalamata Music Days
3ed International Kalamata Music Days
The International Kalamata Music Days, held by the PHARIS – Kalamata Municipality Beneficiary Organisation and the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata, is back for the 3rd consecutive year and begins on the 1st July 2019. From this day on and until the 18th July, when the music festival of Kalamata will hand things over to the Kalamata International Dance Festival, a rich bouquet of concerts, masterclasses and musicological seminars will transform the Messenian capital into a musical and cultural attraction.
At the same time, the offering of opportunities for artistic development and education, through an intensive work during the music masterclasses and inspiring process of performance practice, is lying in the heart of the festival.
Finally, the exciting musical summer of Kalamata will come to an end in the last days of August with the awaited collaboration and the concerts of the Greco-Austrian string academy “Strings in Motion”, which continues to establish itself as a very important connection point between the Greek music scene and the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
The full concert program, which is centred around classical music and encompasses also improvisational jazz and cinematic collaborations, and the plan of the masterclasses and the musicological seminars can be found here.
The internationally renowned teaching faculty of the masterclasses includes the countertenor Aris Christofellis and the stage director Panagiotis Adam (both tutoring at the Vocal and Stage Performance Masterclass), the violinist Felix Froschhammer(Violin Masterclass), the cellist Indira Rahmatulla (Violoncello Masterclass) and the pianist Alexia Mouza (Piano Masterclass). The masterclasses are open to young musicians (vocals, violin, cello and piano) from all around the world, of all ages and in all stages of their musical development.
The masterclasses of the International Kalamata Music Days are going to be held from the 3rd until the 18th July 2019 in rooms of the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata and in the Philharmonic Amphitheatre, which is located very near to the conservatory.
